Retouching a series of photos for an online storeE-commerce is rapidly developing all over the world. The number of partners of various marketplaces in Russia has grown by 30-60% of the average daily figure. Accordingly, the demand for preparing an assortment of goods for publication is increasing. This process is clearly demonstrated on the clothing network.
The work on the collection of thermal underwear can be divided into several stages:
• Color correction;
• Detailed retouching;
• Clipping;
• Trimming.
Based on the references provided by the company, the main task of color correction was:
• Increasing the volume of the image by working out the light and shade pattern;
• Balancing the color of the skin and some products as requested by the client;
•Balancing the exposure, contrast and increasing detail.
Then the newly imported photos from Lightroom were sent for retouching. At this stage the client requested to remove «humps on the body», other corrections were at his discretion. Analysis of the photos made it clear that editing the silhouette was not enough.) From hair to foot, literally everything was subjected to processing:
• Elimination of birthmarks and moles;
• Treatment of face with frequency decomposition method — weakening of expression lines and acne, alignment of skin tone;
• Elimination of tattoos, piercing scars, scratches and abrasions;
• Body and hair plastic;
• Removal of lint, creases, folds and stitch defects on fabric of products;
• Drawing of light reflections on body and hair;
• Change of manicure color of girl.
When every detail of the puzzle has fallen into place — we move on to the process of clipping. At this stage, we have one goal — to separate the model from the background for its further modification.
In most cases, you need exclusively white (FFFFFF) background, but it is not enough just to lighten it. For further use of these photos in the design, it is necessary to prepare the photo properly for further collage. The dynamic texture of such photos requires RGB channels, which make the processing of hair and small details more correct.
— To check for «artifacts» we have added a contrasting background under the clipping mask. — Exporting a working file with the mask for the designer and a set of photos on a white background with the shadow drawn under the legs completes this stage.
— Cropping — the finish line!
— For correct integration into various marketplaces it is necessary to follow the rules of exporting the finished material. For each article in our stack we have prepared 3-4 perspectives and they need to be cropped in accordance with the standard of the overall style of advertising in the necessary resolutions and color space. As a result we have a large amount of photos divided into several parts:
— XMP metadata — for rolling back before retouching;
— PSD files with retouching and clipping mask; — PNG files without background for easy editing into layout;
— For importing to the sites the framing was divided into several areas: below-knee, above-knee, collar zone for fragments, full-length. Each cropped photo was exported in two parameters:
— sRGB-JPEG 3: 4 Full size — For publishing on Wildberries;
— sRGB-JPEG 77: 100, 1540×2000px — For publishing on the company's official site.
